The Sound of Music is a well-known Broadway show and movie, so famous that everyone, from little kids to adults, knows of it. Although probably not everyone is aware of the story of Maria, Captain Von Trapp and his children, but we all heard of the famous Do-Re-Mi. International Brain Academy Surabaya chose this as the theme of the concert to celebrate its second anniversary.
IBA young pianists presented wonderful programs of pieces with high technical difficulties such as Horowitz’s arrangement of Carmen Fantasy, Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in G minor, Saint-Saens Danse Macabre, Flight of the Bumble Bee, and so on. Two guest young pianists from Germany, Clemens Barthold and Thomas Jagusch also performed exceptionally with Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue and Prokofieff Piano Concerto. As the closing of the concert, Giovivo Ensemble collaborated with IBA Children Choir performed a medley of The Sound of Music.
