Snow flakes, Christmas trees, Reindeers, St. Claus.. listening to these, what popped up on your mind?
Yesss… Sing out the heavenly joy folks, ‘coz Christmas Time is near!
Taking Christmas as the concert theme, International Brain Academy Surabaya (IBA Surabaya) celebrated its third anniversary by holding a charity concert La Joie d’en Haut (Heavenly Joy). Funds gathered from this concert were donated to Panti Asuhan Santa Anna Bojonegoro, SMP Katolik Yohanes Gabriel Blitar, and music scholarship for blind children.
The Christmas Concert began with Carol of the Bells performed by IBA Orchestra and continued with The Beautiful Blue Danube by Johann Strauss. After two songs by guest vocalists, Christmas atmosphere was again immediately felt since eight of IBA youth pianists and IBA orchestra performed the famous Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky.
The next performance was exceptional: Haydn Piano Concerto in D, performed by Agustinus Sunaryadi, a visionless pianist, together with IBA Orchestra. The last program was the peak of this concert, Heavenly Joy Operette, which involved over a hundred students and musicians of IBA. The storyline tells us about The Little Match Girls, modified and arranged with a touching story, charming choreography, and beautiful Christmas Songs.
